Systems of care: Transition form the bio-psycho-social perspective of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health
The transition process of vulnerable adolescents, including those with complex health conditions, occurs in all domains of their life. Systems of care are usually designed but also restricted within certain aspects of life, as addressed by health, education and social welfare. The need for a co-ordinated approach to support the transition process has been voiced before, but usually publications focus on one system of care, usually the healthcare system or the education system. The article analyses different approaches using the ICF as a framework.

Personal Factors and Participation how should professionals proceed?
The ICF is an excellent tool to improve the understanding of health and disability. It can be used to develop functional profiles containing more meaningful information as it is possible to obtain from a list of diagnoses. Professionals need to be aware and get to know the personal factors of their patients to better understand their values, desires and goals. This is considered evidence-based practice.
Personal factors cannot be defined and coded for statistical purposes as the necessary categories do not correspond to the individual variations of how people define themselves.

The health surveys, such as the Household Health Survey of São Paulo (Inquérito Domiciliar de Saúde de São Paulo), in general, were designed to identify the existing relationships between social conditions and health. The use of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health in health surveys: a reflexion on its limits and possibilities
The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF1 is a
useful tool to know the conditions of the functionality of people, associated or not
to any disease, as well as to identify the environmental and personal factors which
favour their activities and, consequently, their quality of life. Among the various
uses of ICF is its use in populational surveys on health and disability.
The International Classification of Primary Care (ICPC) has often been confused with the International
Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) because it is a tool that indicates problems
related to health, but which are not diseases. Although its importance be recognized in primary
care, the ICPC points, for example, the reasons for contact with health services, clinical information
and some interventions. In none of these respects, the ICPC addresses the issue of functioning and
disability, either, the relationship of environmental factors on human performance.

The aim of this article is to present the International Classification of Functioning,
Disability and Health (ICF as part of te Family of classifications of the World
Health Organization (WHO).
This classification offers a unified and standardized language, as well as a conceptual
framework for describing the health and the health related states, setting out a valuable
instrument of practical use in public health.
In this paper we analyze the conceptual framework and the structure of the ICF, and we
also describe the action lines for its dissemination and implementation.
A Biopsychosocial Evaluation Method and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF)
This study evaluated the significant contents and concepts of the Biopsychosocial Assessment Method (MAB) as they relate to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) and the connection between the Geriatric Core Set (GCS) and the different issues of the MAB. We linked the 56 items of the MAB to ICF and GCS categories according to published rules.
The results of this study show that ”much like the ICF” the MAB is a tool based on the biopsychosocial model, allowing for a comprehensive and integrated assessment of the different components of functioning.

The ICF for Parents (P-ICF)
Rehabilitation of a child with Cerebral Palsy (CP) is challenging, but parents want to do the best for their child. To help parents in their efforts, we have created five videos about using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) framework for rehabilitation in CP. The ICF framework was created by the World Health Organisation. It helps in understanding and managing children's (in fact everyone's) health effectively. We hope that you find these videos valuable. We need your help to make these videos useful and available for parents and families of children

Subscales of common QOL measures
Quality of life (QOL) is one of the leading outcomes in burn care research. This study classifies subscales of common QOL measures within the International Classification of Functioning disability and health (ICF) framework to determine to which extent the measures are complementary or overlapping and to investigate whether the instruments are able to describe the full spectrum of patients' functioning.
A literature search was performed to determine the most frequently used questionnaires in burn research. The subscales of the three mostly used questionnaires were classified within the ICF.
